David Nieper Academy & Cluster schools come together for Joint Concert 2023

Monday 24th April, 2023

Tuesday 7 March – Wednesday 8 March

We were delighted to host our annual Joint Concerts with local schools, where we had over 250 children performing over two evenings. David Nieper Academy students were joined by Stonebroom Primary, Woodbridge Junior, South Wingfield Primary, Fritchley Primary, Christ the King Voluntary Academy, Croft Infants, Shirland Primary, Leys Junior, Copthorne Community Infants and Alfreton Park Special School.

Each school performed their own individual musical item, including songs from Joseph, beautiful contemporary dance, and instrumental band pieces. Rehearsals took place in the afternoon of each concert and between rehearsals children took part in a variety of activities with Academy staff and pupils, including Art, Dance, Sport, Maths, Geography and Computing and even had time for tea before the performances began at 5.30pm, when family and friends were invited to attend.

On night one Shirland Primary School, Leys Junior School, Copthorne Infant School, Alfreton Park School, Croft Infant School joined pupils from the academy.

Stonebroom Primary School, Woodbridge Junior School, Christ the King Catholic Primary Academy, South Wingfield Primary School, Fritchley Primary School & David Nieper Academy took to the stage on night two, and again it was a delight to see a display of such local talent. At the end of each evening, all children from all schools joined on the stage to sing ‘I’m Gonna Sing’, ‘Any Dream will do’ and a lovely rendition of ‘Sing’. The joint choirs were amazing and the last item “Sing” was a beautiful and moving way to round up our wonderful evenings.

The staff who supported the event were very impressed with the talent and enthusiasm from the local schools and we do look forward to welcoming the children and staff back again next year. Both evenings were absolutely delightful.

A big thank you to Mrs Harrison and Mr Cakar for their hard work and for putting on this concert for everyone to enjoy, as well as to all the children who performed and made this fantastic event possible.

“I love it, through the joint concert the students get a chance to come to secondary school at many times throughout primary school so it’s not scary when they come up, our school also has a young voices choir so it’s been lovely to learn a song and sing together”

“It was wonderful to see all the schools together again, especially after COVID and seeing all the individual schools rehearse separately and then come together today has been really nice”
