“Pure Mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” Albert Einstein
At David Nieper Academy Mathematics covers a lot of basic skills that you will need to use in a variety of ways all through your life and because of this it is a compulsory subject for all students.
You will use much of what you learn in Mathematics in the other subjects that you study; in Science you may be asked to use formulae, graphs and solve equations, in Geography you will need to read charts and diagrams and use statistics and in Technology you will need to use measures and make scale drawings. The mathematics department staff are committed to passing on their enthusiasm of maths to our students and will work hard to make sure that they can succeed. We will ensure that students are adequately supported, and adequately challenged, as this of paramount importance to us, and we aim to do this in a supportive atmosphere that enforces high standards at all times.
Key Stage 3:
At KS3 students will aim to master the foundations of maths to give them an excellent base knowledge. We will develop their key skills of number, algebra, geometry and statistics through a variety of approaches.
