Sixth Form Success

Just over three years ago, the David Nieper Academy opened its Sixth Form Centre with a handful of students, limited study options and big ambitions to reinstate first class post-16 education and enhanced career prospects for Alfreton’s young people.
Now, as the sixth form enters its 4th year, the team is immensely proud of how far the faculty has developed over this short period and has reported 40 new student applications for 2021.
As well as a record number of applications, the Academy is offering its widest choice yet of A-levels including English Language and Literature, Geography, Maths and Sociology and BTEC study options including Business, Finance and Health and Social Care.
The David Nieper Academy has made employability a major focus for sixth form students and has added employability lessons to the curriculum.
The employer’s engagement programme, which is supported by local businesses, is designed to complement classroom learning and offers real life work experience based on student’s own interests and career goals.
